As a college dance team mom just finishing the first year I'm going to offer some advice. Try to get to know some of the other team moms, especially if you're out of state like I am. Your DD needs someone who is local and will be at a lot of the performances who's willing to take photos and videos of the team to share with you. If nobody is there specifically taking a few pics of your dancer she won't be the primary focus of many pictures. Also,it was nice knowing someone was there to cheer her on and give a mom hug sometimes

Great advice. It will be so hard to not be an active dance mom in this phase. She is starting to realize the reality...she won't be able to hang with her ballet boys this summer because she will be at camp. She won't be home for more than a week at Christmas because of rehearsal, etc.

I was worried that she wasn't going to go Greek, but I think this will be more intense than any sorority could be,

Mine did both. She really loves her sorority and they give her the time off she needs for dance team. Not having the breaks was really hard for P. She was pretty homesick at the beginning of Spring semester. Mostly because she felt like she could have spent more time at home and still have had enough rehearsal time. It picked up quickly with the nonstop pace of basketball games. They performed at all home men's games and they split the team to cover all home women's games plus some gymnastics meets. They have an outstanding gymnastics team that averages over 13,000 spectators and they are an enthusiastic crowd. Lots of young girls come and love the dance team. Your dd will find her best friends on the team. They will be her family away from home.
