We had a lot of problems with this last year. We were re-choregraphing routines before every competition. It got really old fast. Once we even re-choreographed a routine at a competition because the dance and mom left in the middle of a competition.
Because of this, we now have a contract and have to pay $50 for every routine you pull out of, and once we re-choreograph a routine you are out of it. Unless, of course, there is an emergency or health issue.
Our studio tries to work around everyone's schedule, in fact we are the only studio in the area with a large group of high school girl because of this. But, you are not placed in the advanced routines if you are not committed 100%. If we have a family event or other equally important event we schedule around it. If they can't, as long as the dancer hasn't missed the other rehearsals, they are allowed to miss that practice. Plus, we don't schedule rehearsals on holidays. We will however, have practice during holiday breaks at least one day, but its nothing that can't be worked around, we have plenty notice. |
