We are in Australia and my daughter will this year be taking classes VCE Dance Unit's 3 and 4 which are year 12 subjects (even though she is in year 10).  These subjects are assessed by an external examiner and will contribute towards her final score that is used to determine university placements.  A bit different to how it works with most of you. [smile]

In Unit 3 she must come up with a 'Technique Solo'  This is assessed based on several criterias.
1.  physical skills  including alignment, coordination, balance, control, flexibility, strength, stamina and transference of weight.
2. Body actions include elevation, falling, gesture, locomotion, turning and stillness.
3.  demonstrate skill in the varied use of each of the elements of movement; namely, time, space (shape) and energy. Information about the elements of movement is provided in the VCE Dance Study Design
4.  projection of the whole body, including transitions between phrases and sections, and use of eye line to communicate an artistic and expressive execution of the movement.

The teacher has requested that they come up with a list of proposed pieces of music by tomorrow.   So far she has a couple on her list with 'Car Radio' by 21 Pilots being at the top of the list.  We just thought we'd throw it out there to see if anyone can suggest anything better.  Something with changes in tempo and not too overdone.    Her best styles are lyrical, contemporary, jazz and musical theatre.  She is also a fantastic story teller.
