Is 2 minutes too short for a fast paced hip hop duo?

Might be just about right.

For,our comps, the everyages are.

Solos - 2 1/2 minutes
Duos/trios - 3-31/2 mins
Groups - 4-5 mins

I once read something from a dance judge that said she would much rather see a 2 minute solo hit it hard rather than going to the max time and losing it at the end.

My daughter was in a jazz trio several years ago that was 1:50 seconds and it only didn't place 1st at one competition (5th but they were 9 in the 9-11 age group). The judges didn't seem to mind how short it was. This year her contemporary solo is 1:48 and it's placed 5th overall at advanced and at a convention competition so far.

Check with the comp rules... all the ones we've been to have had it specified, usually as per age group.

One of my opinions is that is a time limit, not a time requirement.
