My daughter and her best friend are doing their 3rd duet together this year. They are looking for a song appropriate for best friends to do a lyrical or contemporary dance. They want something "not from last century". Any ideas?

A few years ago, two sisters from our studio did a beautiful duet to Shelter sung by Birdy. Their dance was about the two of them always being there for each other. I could see that concept working well for best friends too.

Is "For Good" from Wicked too over-done for them? It always makes me cry..."who can say if I've been changed for the better, but because I knew you, I have been changed for good." Sob!

My daughter and her best friend did a lyrical duo last season to Bruno Mars song "Amazing". I cried every time they performed it and they had so much fun together with this song. Its a slowed down version on YouTube

A super sad, but moving song is My Best Friend by Alex Preston.  It does deal with death (and might have even been on a fundraising CD for the Newton massacre) so not sure you want to go there, but it has been on my "songs to keep on a list" (everyone has one of these lists, right?) for a while.

"The Days" by Jasmine Thompson - it's a cover, I don't know who was the original artist. My 11-yo did her lyrical solo to it this year and it was well received.

I really like "Friends" by Jasmine Thompson- but I haven't listened to it in awhile, it might be too young?
