DD will be 15 when she competes a lyrical solo this coming year. She gets to bring song suggestions to her DT in the fall. She is very interested in using a 'classic' song from the 30s through 60s, but one that has been updated to be a little more modern. One of her teammates did Fever last year - the Beyoncé version. She's been listening to youtube trying to find something. Current favorite is Dream a Little Dream of Me by Lara Loft:
Her lyrical group last year was to California Dreamin' by Sia and she loved it. Any suggestions for an updated classic?

I think that's a wonderful choice. Sara Jarosz did a beautiful cover of Bob Dylan's Simple Twist of Fate that I think would make a lovely solo:
Also, a little newer than what you're looking for, but this is an awesome cover of Billie Jean:
And of course you can't go wrong with a good version of Moon River:
Can y'all tell I like covers? Haha

Try Sleeping At Last's album "Covers". It's all covers of older songs. DD's Ruby Blue from 2 seasons ago was from that album.

I agree with Sleeping At Last. Ash used Turning Page a couple of years ago, and the studio used a few other songs that same year!
