Has anyone been to the Legacy Nationals in the past? This is our first year competing. I'm wondering what the "opening numbers rehearsals" are, that are scheduled every day of the week and who gets to participate in those. I like to be prepared of what to expect.

We have never been to Legacy, but usually the opening number rehearsals are by invite only at most comps. A select group of dancers learn a routine and performs it.

We went to Legacy a few years ago. The kids in the opening number were selected and invited at regionals to participate and signed up before. It was all older kids. We had two participate and the way It was scheduled they really missed all of the downtime they would have had.

DD was selected to be in the opening number last year at Legacy Nationals. She was selected at the awards ceremony for her solo at regionals. It was 13 and up. The rehearsal time was kind of grueling. it was a minimum of 2 hours a day, before and/or after regular competition dances. She opted out because she would have missed all of her free time with friends at the water park. Most of the kids selected from our studio opted out, actually. They just required too much rehearsal time and commitment.

Oh yes. That makes sense.
