My daughter's solo song this year is a Japanese electronic song. Very cool song with a super cool beat but costuming is HARD. Her teacher suggested either futuristic or Japanese anime. We're stumped. My daughter doesn't want anything too over the top. Any suggestions? Oh, and it's a jazz number and she's 11 [smile]

What style of dance for the solo?

My first thought is what if you look up some cosplay leotards (discount dance is safe, if decide togoogle images - do this without your dd, you will get some good leotards and some inappropriate ones too) and see if anything sparks an idea.  For Japanese anime, this might be a fun time to try a colored wig.

Look up Gaya Bommer and YAGP on youtube. She had an dance that reminded me of animation and wore a very simple costume that really worked nicely with the choreography.

ETA- Found it

It's a jazz solo. The song is Vyzee by Sophie if you want to google that. I googled Japanese anime and wow. I'm glad she wasn't around! It looks really school girlish which doesn't sit well with me. [frown]

Ugh, looking for a costume is the absolute worst in my book. I'm an accountant and I haven't a creative bone in my body.

What a cool solo and that costume totally fit. I think something that simple may be too simple for her song but it's definitley something to keep in mind as a starting point.

What about a biketard like this https://www.weissmans.com/all_costumes/sl10219.aspx?position=19 or on the schools girl idea this one https://www.weissmans.com/all_costumes/8778.aspx?position=47 (this is hard to get on we had it last year )

Do you sew?  I think this would be super cute.  There's another version with smaller sizes.

Has to be a leo or briefs. Her teacher hates anything shorts like as she feels it cuts off the girls legs. I found a few other cute biketards but those are not options [frown]

Kellecompany.com has a few futuristic looking costumes that might work.

Definitely check out the Kelle catalog, but go to the 2018 one first.  Even though they have a lot of back years on-line, many of those costumes are no longer available.
