One count ... I was hoping it was somehow inadvertent or innocent.  But reading the article, it really doesn't sound that way.  VIDEO?!

I'm saddened, he really does very good work with a camera.

Because of the 5 kids, my DH has a block on the computers so I wasn't able to read the details.  Would you mind summing them up for me?  All I could see was that he was indicted on one count of pornography.

A local photographer is facing one count of receipt of child pornography after he allegedly downloaded child pornography onto a hard drive last month, the U.S. District Attorney's Office said in a release Thursday.

The photographer, 46-year-old Christopher Alexander Reilly, operated under the moniker "Chris Reilly Photography," the release said.

Reilly was charged after a data recovery firm reported to the FBI they had discovered videos of minors "engaged in sexually explicit conduct" on one of his hard drives.

As of Thursday, authorities had not identified Reilly's clients in any child porn images.

The investigation, however, is ongoing.

According to his website, Reilly specialized in photographing dancers.

“As this investigation moves forward, the FBI will continue to focus significant resources on identifying and notifying those who were potentially victimized by the defendant to ensure they are provided appropriate access to victim services and support,” FBI Special Agent Christopher Combs said. “Anyone possessing information about improper or unlawful activities by Reilly or the production of child pornography should contact the FBI in San Antonio at (210) 225-6741.”

According to Reilly's website, he is married and has two daughters who are twins.

Reilly also states he served five years in the military and graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2001.

Thank you for copying that for me.  Wow, I'm just shocked.  One of our dance teachers knows him so the past couple of years he has come up to video shoots for a selection of our dancers. He only charged $20 for the shoot but then you could buy prints which cost more; I only bought two.  His work is amazing and he's photographed dancers like Sophia Luccia etc.

I'm still hoping that it was a mistake. He has such an eye for photos [frown] hoping it wasn't a dirty eye.
One girl told me how her husband was fired from his job for downloading porn at work. He was given a memory stick with movies on it from a friend, he downloaded them onto the computer and put the ones he wanted into a cd to give his teenage daughter to watch while they were away for the week end. He didn't know some were porn (not child) but either way he downloaded it onto the computer and was let go.
And what if it was a 17 year old who looked older?

But I guess if he was indicted, they must be confident he was guilty and had intent. I'm just hesitant without ALL the facts.

I am not hesitant to believe this charge.  He can be a talented photographer, and he can still be sexually attracted to children.  In fact many people who are sexually attracted to children find jobs that allow them to work with children. In his case, scantily clad children who often pose with their legs open.

You just don't accidentally download videos of child porn.  People who watch these videos usually engage in file sharing, requiring them to download some photos/videos to their computers to be file shared from there, which makes everyone liable in the criminal act.

I hope that this scandal does not get worse, but as parents ask their children about closed door photoshoots, I hope they report issues to the FBI if they occurred.

I'm just saying that I didn't find his photos sexual. And mistakes could happen. He may have downloaded files on his computer without ever opening all of them.
Of course he could also be 100% a criminal who deserves to be strung up by his toes. I'm just not one to condemn until I know everything.

ETA: but I also would not leave my child alone with anyone even suspected.

Those that I know who have had children photographed by him have NOT described closed door shoots at all. They described people coming and going and never being alone with him in a studio (dance studios).

When he was at my DD's dance studio he did the photo shoot in the large dance room. Although parents did not go in, the studio owner was in there along with one or two other people who were helping out, and each child was only in there for about 10 minutes. He was not alone with any of the children.

Hopefully it was a mistake but I have personally experienced a close friend that I would have never expected of being involved in child porngrapy being indicted and put in prison for downloading and possessing it. He was often around my daughter when she was little. I trusted him...luckily DD was never involved, however it has made me more weary to trust anyone. No matter how well I know them. His photography and this charge may have nothing to do with one another, but thinking back to what happened with that sought after choreographer in Australia (Grant Davies), I just think that we should all be aware of nefarious possibilities that may come with anyone working with children.

Parents weren't allowed but the rest of the studio kids could go in plus all of the people working the lights were in there.  Parents sat outside the room watch on ipads.

I didn't hear that either.  When DD15 went last year her teacher was in there with him.

How horrible. I will say this though. I searched Instagram to see if he deleted his photography account and came across the profiles of several young men who share the same name, but are definitely NOT that Chris Reilly (students, live in LA). I saw awful comments calling these men deplorable names and accusing them of engaging in despicable acts. I feel for these poor young men. What if their boss or clients saw this? I'm positive none of you awesome ladies are these bullies, but people out their listen!! As despicable as Chris Reilly's acts were, engaging in mob mentality and attacking innocent men will certainly not help the situation!

It's rare for an indictment to be brought for receiving child pornography unless the law enforcement agency believes they can convict, so conviction rates are very high for this crime (but of course he has not be tried yet).  He is being charged with a federal offense, and if he is convicted of receiving child porn, this carries a mandatory 5 year prison sentence.  https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdtx/pr/federal-child-pornography-charge-filed-against-prominent-san-antonio-photographer

I also tend to believe it.  Heck, there was enough suspicion to get a search warrant, which then yielded video evidence.  And just because he's only been charged with one count, doesn't mean he won't eventually be charged with more.

I hate this for so many reasons.

The search warrant came as a result of finding the video. His computer was brought into a recovery place due to a crash which resulted in finding the video.

I am definitely holding my opinion until there is more information.  He brought his computer into the recovery place bc it crashed.  There could definitely be more to the story.  However, if he is guilty, then I will be sickened by the news [frown]
