I know that things change from comp. to comp. and from year to year, but can anyone give me a reader's digest version of which ballet competitions (yagp, ADCIBC, UBC, etc. ) that mandate contemporary music with instrumental only and which allow vocals?
Competition is still a good way in the distance but I'm trying to get an idea of what is generally happening out there.

YAGP now allows vocals in the music, and UBC's category is contemporary/lyrical so I'm assuming they allow vocals too.

YAGP has allowed vocals for years, people just don't use music with vocals much. It varies by region and whim but you will probably be in the minority. if you're ok with that then it's not a problem.

So in the past they haven't allowed vocal music? I had no idea! DD had vocals in her music this year, it was still a very appropriate dance for YAGP though and the judges scored it well, even though she danced injured.
