My DD 9 wants to do a duet at her studio next year. She wants to do a jazz duet with another dancer at her studio. In order for my DD to be considered for a solo/duet/trio, all competition dancers need to come up with a self choreographed 1 min dance in the style she'd like to be placed in. She will audition with this during their audition week in June. So she will need to come up with a song and choreography. I am not a dancer so I'm not much help. I can edit the music so it's 1 minute that's about it.[biggrin]

Advice?

DD had to to do this at her old comp studio for auditions as well.

Basically, she already knew the song she wanted to use, so we searched YouTube for routines using that song that were AGE APPROPRIATE and then used those for inspiration. If there was a sequence of steps she liked, we put it in.

Obviously, you want to show your DD's strengths and personality no matter how you go about choreographing it.
